Turtle River's New 'Green' Certified School BuildingTurtle River Montessori welcomes students to its brand new, state of the art, 20,000 square foot facility in Jupiter, Florida. The building was designed by architects from the Living Designs Group who enhanced the 'green'school features in many areas. For example, they designed a beautiful pond fed by a cistern; the cistern collects rainwater and air conditioning condensation. The pond is the center of our eco-lab and will include aquaculture classes for the elementary students. With a student capacity of 250, the staff and parents are thrilled to be a part of Jupiter's first 'green' building (pending LEED certification) and a campus custom-built for Turtle River's exceptional curriculum. Located in the friendly seaside community of Jupiter, Florida, Turtle River was founded in 1994 by a group of families intent on providing a better Montessori experience for their own children - one which was truer to the high standards of "whole education" originally developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. Praised by parents, educators and community members as a school of distinction, Turtle River Montessori has grown into a vibrant community of children educated in authentic Montessori classrooms, guided by parents and teachers dedicated to maximizing each child's potential. We are a warm, welcoming community in which children and adults find friendship and support, where adults and children are encouraged to ask questions and broaden their understanding of themselves, others and the world around them. Turtle River Montessori prides itself on our high standards in "whole education", utilizing Montessori's belief that teaching philosophies and practices should be learner focused and address broader frameworks such as peace and environmental education. This approach encourages children to think and discover for themselves. It reaches beyond basic academic achievement to influence the whole child. TURTLE RIVER MONTESSORI We are a Gold Seal school and we are proud of our accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the Association of Independent Schools of Florida, and full membership in the American Montessori Society.
